What Is Kuei Kang? Four Day Pillars with Natural LeadershipFree

Kuei Kang takes its name from the brightest, most potent star in the Big Dipper. Like a high star illuminating the night sky, it symbolizes the drive to stand at the front and lead the pack.

When you have Kuei Kang in your chart, you possess a sharp mind and extraordinary decisiveness. Because its energy is so intense, it often leads to extremes: harnessed well, it takes you to the very top, but left unchecked as pure stubbornness, it can cause friction with those around you.

In saju, four specific pillar combinations are traditionally recognized as Kuei Kang: Yang Metal Dragon, Yang Metal Dog, Yang Water Dragon, and Yang Water Dog. Some traditions also include Yang Earth Dog, and occasionally Yang Earth Dragon.

This energy shines most powerfully when it sits in your Day Pillar, the day you were born. Resolute as solid rock or deep as the ocean, these pillars have an unstoppable drive and stubbornness, naturally wanting to stand at the center of everything.

In the past, people were wary of women with Kuei Kang, assuming their energy was simply too strong. Back when obedience was considered the highest virtue, a firm sense of self was misunderstood as rough or disruptive.

In modern times, however, Kuei Kang is highly valued as a sign of confident leadership and professional mastery. It is a wonderful power that helps you pioneer your own path and become a leader in your field without worrying about what others think.

Spotting Kuei Kang starts with your Day Pillar, the pillar representing the day you were born. Enter your birth date and time into the Korean perpetual calendar and check if Yang Metal Dragon, Yang Metal Dog, Yang Water Dragon, or Yang Water Dog appears in your Day Pillar.

Of course, a single special star never dictates your entire destiny. You need to look at the balance of all eight characters in your birth chart to understand how to use this mighty star wisely.
