Master Cheongun from Gyeryongsan“Haha, Direct Wealth is rice you store in the jar, Indirect Wealth is rice you take to market. Either way, it's your rice.”What Direct Wealth and Indirect Wealth mean
Saju takes your Day Master, the top character of your Day Pillar, as you. Every other character gets one of ten names for the role it plays toward you. These are the Ten Gods. The element you control is called the Wealth star, and it stands for money, possessions, and the results you hold in your hands.
The Wealth star splits in two by yin and yang. If it shares your Day Master's yin or yang, it is Indirect Wealth. If it is the opposite, it is Direct Wealth. Both are money, but money that comes and goes in different ways, so saju gives them two names.
The difference: money you save and money you move
Direct Wealth is money that builds up as you put work in. Think of a steady paycheck, honest results, and careful household money. People with strong Direct Wealth draw their strength from plugging leaks and keeping what they have saved.
Indirect Wealth is money in motion. It stands for business, money you put to work, work out in the world, busy places full of people, and chances that arrive from where you least expected. People with strong Indirect Wealth are good at spotting openings where money and people change hands.
Neither one is better. Direct Wealth is rice stored in the jar; Indirect Wealth is rice taken to market. Once you know which way your chart leans, you can see the way of earning and keeping that suits you.
How to find them in your chart
First you need your Day Master. For Yang Wood, Yang Earth and the Dragon and Dog branches are Indirect Wealth, while Yin Earth and the Ox and Goat branches are Direct Wealth. Yin Wood is the reverse: Yin Earth with Ox and Goat is Indirect, Yang Earth with Dragon and Dog is Direct. For Yang Fire, Yang Metal and Monkey are Indirect, Yin Metal and Rooster are Direct. For Yin Fire, Yin Metal and Rooster are Indirect, Yang Metal and Monkey are Direct.
For Yang Earth, Yang Water and Pig are Indirect, Yin Water and Rat are Direct. For Yin Earth, Yin Water and Rat are Indirect, Yang Water and Pig are Direct. For Yang Metal, Yang Wood and Tiger are Indirect, Yin Wood and Rabbit are Direct. For Yin Metal, Yin Wood and Rabbit are Indirect, Yang Wood and Tiger are Direct. For Yang Water, Yang Fire and Snake are Indirect, Yin Fire and Horse are Direct. For Yin Water, Yin Fire and Horse are Indirect, Yang Fire and Snake are Direct.
To count them, look at the three top characters other than your Day Master and all four bottom characters. Each bottom character is judged by the largest energy it holds inside. If you do not know your birth hour, leave out the Hour Pillar and count the other three.
A chart with many Wealth stars, and one with none
Several Wealth stars mean money matters sit close to your daily life. But if Wealth is heavy and the energy supporting you is weak, saju calls it wealth heavy, self weak. There is plenty of money work, yet body and mind tire first, so choosing what to let go of becomes important.
Having no Wealth star does not mean you have no luck with money. Wealth also arrives through the 10-year luck cycles and through each year's energy. And because the element you give birth to, your Output stars, in turn gives birth to Wealth, a chart rich in Output is read as one where talent and skill bring money in.
Years and days when Wealth comes in
A year of Indirect Wealth is a year when chances roll in. You can see big flows of money and people. A year of Direct Wealth is a year when what you put in piles up bit by bit, and luck grows from saving and holding on steadily.
Day by day, a Direct Wealth day is when incoming money sticks and practical talk goes smoothly, so it suits sorting out money, comparing prices, and settling overdue bills. An Indirect Wealth day is when things move in a big way, so it suits the message you have been putting off or meeting someone new. For wedding planning, Indirect Wealth days suit big shopping for gifts and the new home, and Direct Wealth days suit setting the budget and paying deposits.
How it reads in your own chart
Counting Wealth stars is only the start. Paldo Saju's money reading looks at how your Wealth links with your Output stars, which luck cycles and years bring money, and where money tends to leak.
That is why two people with the same Indirect Wealth can differ: one may be better off earning than investing, while for another this may be a time to protect rather than grow. Open the characters in your own birthday and you can see where your Direct and Indirect Wealth sit and when they move.
FAQ
Which is better, Direct Wealth or Indirect Wealth?
Neither is better. Direct Wealth leans toward building and keeping, Indirect Wealth toward moving and growing, so they help you choose the way of earning that fits your chart.
If I have no Wealth star, can I not make money?
You can. Wealth also arrives through luck cycles and yearly energy, and a chart rich in Output stars is read as one where talent and skill bring money in.
Can I count Wealth stars without my birth hour?
Yes, the Year, Month, and Day Pillars are enough. Just keep in mind that if a Wealth star sits in your Hour Pillar, it will not show up in the count.
