What Is the Day Master? The Character That Is You in SajuFree

Saju is the study of setting up four pillars based on the year, month, day, and hour you were born. Among them, the top character of the day you were born is one of the Heavenly Stems, and we call it the Day Master.

The Day Master marks your spot as the main character among the eight characters in your chart. That is why when reading saju, we always start by finding this Day Master to see what kind of person you are.

There are ten different Day Masters, and each mirrors a shape found in nature. Yang Wood is a tall, sturdy tree reaching straight up, and Yin Wood is soft grass and flowers.

Yang Fire is the sun lighting up the whole world, and Yin Fire is a candle or lantern cutting through the dark. Yang Earth represents a solid, grand mountain, and Yin Earth is rich soil and farmland embracing seeds.

Yang Metal is sturdy rock and raw iron, while Yin Metal is a sparkling jewel and a refined blade. Yang Water is the wide, deep ocean and a great river, and Yin Water is a gentle rain and soft dew.

Once your Day Master is set, we look at how the other seven characters relate to you. We call these roles the Ten Gods, and they show whether the surrounding characters help you or drain your energy.

We also examine whether your Day Master is sturdy or delicate, dividing charts into a strong Day Master and a weak Day Master. Depending on your core strength, we find the element that helps you, bringing balance back to your chart.

Once you know your birth date and birth hour, you can set up your Four Pillars right away. Just look at the top character sitting in the Day Pillar to spot your Day Master instantly.

Once you know whether your Day Master is a towering tree or a warm lantern, you take your first exciting step toward understanding yourself on a deeper level.
