How to Read Your Chart
The top is the Heavenly Stem, and the bottom is the Earthly Branch. From right to left are the Year, Month, Day, and Hour Pillars, and the top character of the Day Pillar (Day Master) is you. The character colors represent the Five Elements (Wood green, Fire red, Earth yellow, Metal white, Water blue).
The small labels above and below each character are the Ten Gods, showing how each character relates to your Day Master. The 10-year luck cycle is a major flow that shifts every ten years, and the gold square marks your current 10-year luck cycle.
FAQ
What is a manseryeok (saju calendar)?
This calendar converts your birth year, month, day, and hour into Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, eight characters in total (your saju). Every reading begins with these eight characters.
Why does the Month Pillar change by the solar terms instead of the 1st of the solar month?
In saju, the month changes at the exact moment of solar terms like Lichun and Jingzhe. Being born right around a solar term can change your Month Pillar even in the same calendar month, and the year changes at Lichun, not January 1.
What if I do not know my birth time?
We read your chart using six characters without the Hour Pillar. You can still see your Day Master, Five Elements, and the major flow of your 10-year luck cycle. Try entering it again once you find out your birth hour.
Do you adjust for daylight saving time and local solar time?
Yes. We adjust for historical daylight saving time in Korea and local solar time based on your birthplace longitude. If you were born near a boundary where a pillar could shift, we also show you the alternative chart.
